Popular culture influences young people all over the world creating new role models and values. Many people consider it a negative phenomenon. To what extent do you agree or disagree with this opinion?

I totally agree with opinion of many people that nowadays young generation is under the influence of popular culture and it is a negative phenomenon.
We all have role models when we are young, but these have changed dramatically over the last few decades. A hundred years ago, role models were respected members of the community, politicians, or maybe a local footballer who had made a name for himself. Now it's different. These days, celebrities are more famous than, for instance, politicians.
